Why It's Unique
Plant Fibers. Ayurvedic Dyes.
Healthier Fabric for Healthier Life.
What Makes Ayurkruti's Naturally Dyed Fabrics Different?
Ayurkruti combines two powerful ancient traditions: plant-based fibers (Kala Cotton, Hemp, Banana, Lotus, Bamboo and more) with Ayurvedic botanical dyes (Indigo, Turmeric, Madder Root, Neem, Sappan and more). The result is a fabric that is not just beautiful and sustainable — it is genuinely healthier for the human body.
Our dyeing method is 100% chemical-free. No synthetic mordants. No azo dyes. No heavy metals. Every dye plant is an Ayurvedic medicinal herb — and their wellness properties (antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, cooling, skin-healing) remain active when bonded with plant-based cellulose fibre.
Our colours are the real colours extracted from nature. That's what makes them stand out.
-
🌿Plant-based fibers + Ayurvedic dyes — 100% botanical from fibre to finish. No petrochemicals, no synthetics at any stage.
-
🩺Active wellness properties — Neem (antimicrobial), Indigo (cooling), Turmeric (anti-inflammatory), Madder (circulatory). The dye plant's benefits stay in the fabric.
-
👶Safe for babies & sensitive skin — No azo dyes, no heavy metals, no synthetic mordants. Ideal for infant wear, innerwear & allergy-prone skin.
-
♻️Zero toxic discharge — Dye bath wastewater composted. Plant-based fibers fully biodegradable at end of life.
-
✨Colours that age beautifully — Develop a natural living patina with wear, rather than fading harshly like synthetic dyes.
-
🏷️Ideal for sustainable & wellness brands — Full Botanical Origin Certificate and GOTS/OEKO-TEX documentation included with every bulk order.

12 Shades, 12 Botanical Stories
Natural dyes produce beautiful, earthy colours — rust, indigo, ochre, olive, turmeric yellow, madder red and many more. Each shade comes from a specific Ayurvedic plant with centuries of documented use. A Botanical Origin Certificate is included with every bulk order.
☀️ Yellow
Turmeric / Tacomo / Onion
Curcuma longa · Tecomastans · Allium cepa
Turmeric (Haldi) is the most sacred Ayurvedic dye plant, revered for over 5,000 years. Yields warm saffron-to-mustard yellows. Carries curcumin — a natural anti-inflammatory that remains active on fabric.
🌿 Green
Tulasi / Onion / Karisalankanni
Ocimum tenuiflorum · Eclipta alba
Holy Basil (Tulasi) combined with Karisalankanni yields an earthy, living green that resonates deeply with sustainability-conscious buyers across Europe, USA, and Japan.
💙 Indigo Blue
Indigo
Indigofera tinctoria
India's most celebrated natural dye, traded globally for 2,000+ years. The fermentation vat process creates a deep blue that develops beautifully with age. Available as yarn-dyed stripe, check, and solid on Kala Cotton.
🍊 Orange
Annatto / Marigold
Bixaceae · Calendula officinalis
Annatto seeds yield a brilliant, sunset orange that is naturally UV-resistant. Calendula (Marigold), beloved in Ayurvedic skin care, produces a softer golden-orange with wound-healing properties.
❤️ Red
Kumkum / Maddar Root
Rubia tinctorum
Madder Root (Manjistha) is a blood-purifying Ayurvedic herb and one of the world's oldest red dyes. Rich crimson-to-terracotta reds with exceptional wash-fastness. Our Madder Stripe Kala Cotton is a bestseller.
🫚 Kaki
Triphala
Terminalia bellirica
Triphala — the iconic three-fruit Ayurvedic formula — yields warm khaki-olive tones. Its tannin-rich properties improve the fastness of all other dye colours when used as a mordant base.
🌸 Pink
Sappan Tree / Maddar
Caesalpinia sappan · Rubia tinctorum
Sappan wood — known as Pathimugham in Kerala — produces a beautiful raspberry-to-blush pink fashionable in slow fashion and resort-wear. Blended with Madder for nuanced dusty rose tones.
🖤 Black
Karungali / Ironwater
Acacia
Traditional iron mordant (ironwater) process combined with Acacia (Karungali) tannins — practised in South India for centuries. Rich, deep black with exceptional wash-fastness.
🤍 Natural White
Soapnut / Fullers Earth / Sunlight
Traditional Ayurvedic Whitening Process
Processed using Fullers Earth (Multani Mitti), Soapnut (Reetha) wash, and sun-drying on fresh grass — a warm natural white without chlorine bleach. Safe for infants and sensitive skin.
🤎 Brown
Vettiver / Velam
Vetiveria zizanioides · Acacia nilotica
Vettiver (Khus grass) root, celebrated in Ayurvedic perfumery for cooling and grounding, yields rich earthy browns with a subtle natural fragrance — uniquely multi-sensory.
🩶 Grey
Vembadam
Ventilago maderaspatana
A rare South Indian medicinal tree bark producing sophisticated grey-taupe tones sought in Scandinavian and Japanese minimalist fashion. Regional exclusivity makes it a premium differentiator.
🫧 Ivory
Neem
Azadirachta indica
Neem — Ayurveda's "village pharmacy" — imparts a warm ivory tone along with documented antimicrobial and anti-fungal properties. Ideal for activewear, innerwear, baby wear, and wellness collections.
